Abstract

This article examines the factors that hinder the promotion of family mediation in the state of Tabasco. Through a process of comprehensive documentary review, four main factors contributing to these obstacles were identified. Firstly, the lack of awareness and knowledge about family mediation limits its adoption as a conflict resolution option. Secondly, the scarcity of family mediation programs and services hampers access to this alternative. Thirdly, resistance to change represents a significant obstacle. The deep-rooted preference for traditional methods of conflict resolution and reluctance to actively engage in seeking consensus-based solutions restrict the adoption of mediation as an effective approach. Lastly, limited resources compromise the development and promotion of family mediation. Insufficient budget allocation and a shortage of trained mediators impede the expansion of mediation programs and the provision of accessible services to families. To effectively promote family mediation in Tabasco, these hindering factors need to be addressed through the promotion of awareness and knowledge, increased availability of programs and services, overcoming resistance to change, and ensuring adequate resources.
