Abstract

This article summarizes the author’s undergraduate thesis at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Political Science Department. Its objective is to study the factors that influence the political participation of young people in the context of Cartagena de Indias. It is developed as a case study, with a quantitative approach, through which youth dynamics are addressed in the convulsed political context of Colombia and, especially, Cartagena de Indias, as well as their participation in different scenarios. For the above, surveys were applied to inquire about aspects of the youth-political relationship. Based on the results, the paper identifies and analyses the variables that, directly and indirectly, affect the degree of participation of the population studied in the chosen context.
