Abstract

This article aims to provide an analysis of different aspects involving the Molyneux problem, rather than a positive or negative response to it. Therefore, it will focus on examining two of its inherent aspects: perceptual experience and significance in language. First, it is essential to offer an investigation
of sensory modalities (or the senses) and a characterization of the perceptual experience that seek together to establish the connection of the senses with our knowledge of the world. Secondly, it must be recognized that, in front of common sense, it seems that however much the sensory experiences of touch and vision may be different, the concepts used on the objects that are presented before the perceptual experience are used in a univocal and amodal way. Thus, it seems useful to evaluate the perceptual experience from a language perspective, which requires addressing the idea of significance, linguistic sign and other associated concepts.
