Abstract
This article seeks to identify management tools for the management of family businesses, which are important to achieve the fulfillment of the mission and vision, in such a way that with proper leadership, good management of control of the sources of income, to be able to overcome the difficulties within the market and in this way, take a short-, medium- and long-term planning. Through the analysis of information from bibliographic sources, and based on the project “characterization of the most relevant family businesses in Ibague, Tolima” will be announced which are the family and corporate management tools of family businesses that last over time. It was found that instruments such as family protocol, commitment minutes and board meetings help maintain the power, management and governance of the family business.
